Britain Reaping the Fruit of Migration Without Assimilation – with the Authorities Still Claiming that Only the Right Wing Is to Blame

In two articles published in June 2026, Jarrett Stepman, a columnist at The Daily Signal, gives a detailed examination to two incidents that show how much British society has lost confidence in its own public institutions. These were the murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak by Vickrum Digwa, a Sikh man, and the attempted beheading of a man by a Sudanese migrant in Belfast. Both incidents were videoed and triggered a wave of protests; both showed how the policies of condoning mass migration without assimilation and double standards in justice tear the country’s social fabric.

Police behavior in the Nowak case looks especially cynical. The video shows the dying young man pleading for help and saying he can’t breathe, while the police, far from providing medical assistance, focus from the outset on the assailant’s false allegation about ‘racism’. When Nowak says he has been stabbed, the officer responds, ‘I don’t think you have, mate’. Digwa and his relatives were quick to realize which card to play: just cry, ‘racism!’ – and the police will immediately turn away from the victim to protect the ‘vulnerable’ assailant. Instead of assisting the dying man immediately, the policemen started investigating whether Nowak had made ‘racist statements’.

Another characteristic manifestation of a deep crisis of confidence in the public institutions is that, far from denouncing the crime and police behavior, the British political establishment vigorously attacked those who tried to call a spade a spade. Nigel Farage called the incident a ‘wake-up call’, but Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the Home Secretary accused him of creating ‘grievance and division’. Those same people who actively supported the protests after the murder of George Floyd in 2020, now demand that Britons ‘not dare politicize’ the killing of a man in their own country. And they personally never hesitate to politicize any events that fit into their own agenda.

Things look much more prosaic and cynical in practice. Large-scale migration without serious assimilation has long turned some areas of Britain into zones with a parallel code of conduct. When newcomers from totally different cultures commit grave crimes, the police and judiciary are often paralyzed by the fear of being charged with ‘racism’. As a result, ordinary Britons see their own lives valued less than the political agenda. It is especially alarming that such incidents are no longer individual cases and come to be perceived as parts of a ‘new reality’.

The same happens in the Belfast case. A Sudanese migrant tries to knife a passer-by dead, the video hits the ’Net – and, instead of discussing why it has become possible at all, politicians start castigating those who share the video and demand responses. They are more anxious about ‘hate speech’ and ‘dangerous narratives’ than about citizens’ real security. These are no longer individual mistakes. This is a systemic policy whereby the State has welcomed mass migration for decades and never cared about assimilation – and now that the consequences have become apparent, is trying to silence those who do speak out.

As a result, Britain has reached a point where trust in the police, judiciary, and political class is at a historic low. The people see two different standards in force: one for ordinary citizens, and another for those whom the authorities consider ‘vulnerable’. And the further, the fewer illusions remain that this situation can be corrected without revamping the entire migration policy of the past decades. For now, the authorities keep pretending that the issue is only with those on the right who ‘incite’ it. And the reality keeps showing itself – in an increasingly tough and bloody form.
